  1. Margin Free:
  • It is a chain of speciality supermarkets in South India.
  • The Margin Free Market is a co-operative venture of the Consumer Protection & Guidance Society and the management, which came forward to take up the responsibility of launching it.
  • The First Margin Free Market, Fort, Trivandrum was inaugurated on 26 January 1994 by the Hon. District Collector Nivethitha P Haran.
  • Provisions, Toiletries, Gift Articles, Kitchenware, plastic goods, fans, mixers, pressure cookers etc. are being sold at reduced rates varying from 1 to 40% less than the maximum retail price fixed by the companies. The society could create an awareness among the people which has resulted in opening a few Margin Free Shops at various parts of Kerala on their own accord.

  • It is an Indian department store chain promoted by the K Raheja Corp Group (Chandru L Raheja Group), started in the year 1991 with its first store in Andheri, Mumbai
  • Shoppers Stop Ltd has been awarded "the Hall of Fame" and won "the Emerging Market Retailer of the Year Award", by World Retail Congress at Barcelona, on April 10, 2008.
  • Shoppers Stop is one of the leading retail stores in India. Shoppers Stop began by operating a chain of department stores under the name “Shoppers’ Stop” in India. Shoppers Stop has 35 stores across the country and three stores under the name HomeStop.
  • Shoppers Stop retails a range of branded apparel and private label under the following categories of apparel, footwear, fashion jewellery, leather products, accessories and home products. These are complemented by cafe, food, entertainment, personal care and various beauty related services.
  1. Nalli’s:
  • Nalli, synonymous with Silk, was established in the year 1928 and has been a leader in the textile and retail business for over 80 years. An icon of South India, Nalli has become synonymous with silk or kanchipuram sarees.
  • Started as a small retail store for silk Sarees in Chennai by a young man called Nalli Chinnasami Chetty in 1928, the family-run shop did steady business for thirty years after which the grandson, Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti took over.
  • Nalli's business focus has broadened, becoming not only a leading sari-retailer, but also one of the foremost manufactures and exporters of fabrics, apparel and home furnishings.
  • Nalli's has evolved with the times to become a category-killer in the saree industry, offering everything from traditional silks to lightweight versions like crepe and chiffons to even designer sarees.   1. Adidas:
  • Adidas AG FWB: ADS, ADR:Pink Sheets: ADDYY) is a German sports apparel manufacturer and parent company of the Adidas Group, which consists of the Reebok sportswear company, golf company (including Ashworth), and Rockport.
  • Besides sports footwear, the company also produces other products such as bags, shirts, watches, eyewear and other sports and clothing-related goods.
  • The company is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second biggest sportswear manufacturer in the world, after its American rival Nike.
  • Adidas was founded in 1948 by Adolf "Adi" Dassler, following the split of Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik between him and his older brother, Rudolf. Rudolf later established Puma, which was the early rival of Adidas. Registered in 1949, Adidas is currently based in Herzogenaurach, Germany, along with Puma.

  1. Metro:
  • Metro AG (FWB: MEO) is a diversified retail and wholesale/cash and carry group based in Düsseldorf, Germany.
  • It has the largest market share in its home market, and is one of the most globalised retail and wholesale corporations.
  • It is the 3rd largest retailer in the world according to Deloitte [2] and Reuters[3]. In English it often refers to itself as Metro Group.
  • It was established in 1964 by Otto Beisheim.
  1. Subhiksha:
  • Subhiksha was an Indian retail chain with 1600 outlets selling groceries, fruits, vegetables, medicines and mobile phones.
  • It began operations in 1997, and was closed down in 2009 owing to financial mismanagement and a severe cash crunch.
  • The name Subhiksha means prosperity in Sanskrit. It opened its first store in Thiruvanmiyur in Chennai in March, 1997 with an investment of about Rs. 5 crore. It was started and managed by R Subramaniam, an IIM Ahmedabad
  • Subhiksha planned to open 1000 outlets by December 2008.[1] Subramanian also planned to invest Rs.500 crore to increase the number of outlets to 2000 across the country by 2009.
  1. Shagun:
  • The latest mall in town will be the one-stop shop for brides and grooms to be.
  • Though skewed heavily in the bride's favour (only 1,000 sq ft in the 20,000 sq ft mall has been earmarked for the groom), it's the first such venture in India to offer everything you need for a wedding under one roof.
  • Shagun Wedding Mall on Shakespeare Sarani will stock everything that a bride requires - apparel, jewellery, cosmetics, furniture and fancy cards.

  • Kendriya Bhandar ( A Multi State Central Government Employees Consumer Co-operative Society Ltd.) was set up in 1963 by Government of India and is functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance and Pensions as a welfare project for the benefit of Central Government Employees and public at large.
  • The objective of Kendriya Bhandar is to meet the day to day requirements of all Central Government Departments, State Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings etc.
  1. Ebony:
    • It launched its store in 1994 at South Extension, New Delhi. Its main goal is to give world-class shopping experience to the Indian consumer. It has successfully opened seven stores across seven cities in India.
    • Ebony Retail Holdings Ltd has initiated several industry trends, making a distinguished place for itself in the industry.
    • The most prominent and successful Ebony in-house brand are ETC and a special books and music venture called Wordsworth.Ebony has opened its stores in Chandigarh, Noida, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Faridabad apart from New Delhi.
